Pyrodanza is currently based in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, but we travel and perform all over the world. We have performed for arts festivals, weddings, corporate events, free-style motocross events, concerts, discotheques, resorts, and much more.
We have gone to great lengths to develop a safe, exciting, magical, elegant, and powerful show. We use a special non-toxic fuel that is sold legally in the United States to cook food in camping stoves, and we have liability insurance coverage. We train in a wide variety of fire dancing instruments and techniques from around the world. We have fused our collective knowledge and talent to create our own unique instruments and styles. Some of the instruments we perform with are: Thai staff (a staff covered 90% in flames), multi-staff (juggling up to four staffs), giant double staff, multi-contact staff (balancing and spinning several staffs without the use of hands), poi (chains with balls of fire), fire fans, fire whips, torches, fire machetes, dragon staff (a staff with ten fire tips), fire star, and more. Our artists master several instruments each, and as a group, we can perform diverse choreographed acts with many artists dancing together simultaneously.
What sets us apart from other firedancing groups is the worldclass level of our artists. Each of our artists are among the best in the world in their respective specialties and they can perform the most advanced techniques with grace and full control. Our shows appear magical to the observer because we can commune very closely with the fire without burning and, because we posses techniques that make our instruments appear to defy gravity and balance. Our style is very technical, but also passionate and brazen. Our instruments are covered in much more fire than usual as compared to other firedancers worldwide and we move with strong passion!
